Sustainability
Sustainability at Tela pro
At Tela pro, sustainability is put into practice. As a manufacturer of hygiene paper products, we bear a special responsibility in our use of raw materials, energy and water. Resource conservation and closed-loop systems have been an integral part of our strategy for decades.
Responsibility for resources
The careful use of raw materials, energy and water is our top priority. Our product development is consistently guided by environmental principles. This has enabled us to reduce our CO₂ emissions by more than 30% in recent years.
Closed-loop systems
Our aim is to keep resources within our own cycle for as long as possible. Residues from recycled paper processing are used to generate energy and provide steam for our own production. Paper scraps are also consistently fed back into the manufacturing process.
Water and Production
Water is a key component of paper production. We keep fresh water consumption low through optimised recycling systems. At our Niederbipp site, we operate our own wastewater treatment plant and treat our process water together with municipal wastewater.
Recycling and Raw Materials
Around 60% of the paper fibres used come from waste paper, which is processed in our own facilities. For virgin fibres, we use only certified pulp from Europe – ensuring short transport routes and CO₂-efficient delivery.
Packaging and materials
We use recyclable cardboard packaging as well as environmentally friendly PE and PP films containing recycled content. Other materials, such as wood and metal, are collected separately and sent for recycling.
Swissness and Responsibility
Our production in Switzerland ensures short supply chains, high reliability and clear standards. We operate in accordance with applicable laws, respect fundamental ethical values and continuously invest in our staff and in sustainable technologies.
Certifications and Standards
Our products and processes are based on recognised standards and labels such as ISO 9001, ISO 14001, BRC, IFS, FSC, PEFC and the Blue Angel. Furthermore, our in-house manufactured products are vegan. They stand for sustainable raw material sourcing, transparent supply chains and high environmental standards.
